This inscribed selection from a  list of a thousand words (reminiscent of Bhishma\u2019s death-bed incantation of the thousand names of Vishnu) may be thought of as a \u2018dying declaration\u2019, or as a eulogy chanted by a dying man to the power that felled him. The inscription, by inviting us to read this word-list,  involves us all as witnesses to this terminal state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Embroidered Digital Commons<\/em> (the physical network of embroidered texts that has ground around the Concise Lexicon as a \u2018Recension\u2019), which is part \u2018b\u2019 of this entry, says that –\u00a0\u201c\u2026the lexicon weaves together an evolving metaphorical language of common ownership, common use and access in physical space and across digital platforms.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
