If you're not aware of it already, you should check
out ProjectCensored.org.  they publish a list every
year of what they consider to be the most important
stories suppressed from the mainstream media and post
daily news on censored stories.

http://www.projectcensored.org/cyearbook.htm is the
list of 2001's top censored stories.
