Rhizome's programs and services support the creation, presentation,
discussion and preservation of contemporary art that uses new technologies
in significant ways. Host to a number of public mailing lists, including
the prestigious "Net Art News" list, Rhizome also hosts the Rhizome
ArtBase, a huge online archive of new media artwork and the TextBase, a
collection of close to three thousand articles on new media art. While the
Rhizome TextBase can be searched online, it can also be accessed through
the experimental "Starry Nights" or "Spiral" interfaces, developed by
Rhizome in their alt.interface initiative.

While access to these resources normally requires a paid-for subscription,
Rhizome and Sarai have inititated an outreach / growth / internetworking
project that will provide subscriptions to 50 people free of cost. These
subscriptions will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis to all
those who mail me (do not cc the list, please) for this purpose.
