Looks like there's been an all-out battle royale erupting all over Europe and West Asia over this issue:

"The Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy began when twelve editorial cartoons depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad were printed in the Danish daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten on 30 September 2005 (and later in the Norwegian Christian newspaper Magazinet on January 10 2006, the German newspaper Die Welt, the French daily France Soir, and many other European newspapers)..."

What's even more remarkable is that the mainstream media in India has not even whimpered about the issue. If not for Wikipedia's home page I probably would not have come to know about this at all.
