Its the 37th Day since two Lepcha youth 20year old Tenzing Lepcha and
35year old filmmaker Dawa Lepcha have been on hunger strike in
Gangtok, fighting against the state government's imposition of
numerous hydel projects in Sikkim.
More news about this Gandhian peaceful protest can be found on the blogspot
http://weepingsikkim.blogspot.com/

Andrew Buncombe published this piece recently in the Independent
http://news.independent.co.uk/world/asia/article2809190.ece

I was undertaking fieldwork in Sikkim during June 2007 (medical
pluralism) when they commenced the hunger strike on 20th June...the
government is not permitting any extensive reports to be published.
Indian researchers are being "gently warned" by Sikkim government
officials that they will be declared person non grata in Sikkim, if
they persist in covering this environmental protest.

The activists of the Teesta Project and brave Gandhian Satyagrahis
need your support and greater media attention.
