It is possible. Of late, "Yes we can" has become a favourite phrase
among many i meet.  "Can you give me change for this?" I ask a
newspaper vendor, "Yes we can," he replies with a smile. But it is an
inside joke - a joke we can crack because obama won.  Had he lost, it
would have been a humourless four years.

Obama's victory almost lulls us into thinking that the schoolyard
bully has suddenly had a change of heart. I see your point on power's
creeper like ability. But i also sometimes feel like we accord it more
mythical strength than it really has.
