The polling has reportedly been more than 60 percent this time. If it is 
true, apparently the people of J&K have replied to the fundamentalists that 
the latter do not represent the J&K. It is time that the fundamentalists 
stop pretending to be representing the "people". Raking the emotions of the 
people on nonissues can work for a while but it requires something more 
substential to keep enjoying the support of the people. If the options are 
between democracy, anarchy and/or theocracy it is not surprising that the 
people have chosen Democracy. If the choice is between hollow slogans of 
freedom and militant Islam, and bread and butter issues, the people chose 
the latter.
