S R Faruqi, apart from pioneering works of scholarship and classical 
urdu poetics, early urdu literary culture and the urdu modernist 
movement,  is one of the few people in the world to possess the entire 
46 volume Hamza cycle and is the author of a three volume study on the 
Dastan tradition in Urdu.
