Dear Friends

Community Radio is a powerful and versatile tool for building communities.
Although it has been promoted by the UN worldwide for over half a century,
in India, it is only in the last decade that the airwaves have been opened
to the public, thanks to a Supreme Court judgement. Even so, growth in this
important medium has been slow, and even among NGOs engaged in community
building, it remains largely unknown.

The TUNING INTO DIVERSITY 2 workshop is aimed at civil society
organisations interested in starting radio stations or in building
partnerships toward starting such stations. The goal is to help them
understand the legal, technical, financial and media issues involved and to
get acquainted with the skills required of a team in starting a community
radio station.

The programme will begin at 9 am on Wednesday, 23rd June and end at 2 pm on
25th June. It will be held at International Centre Goa, Dona Paula, Goa. The
faculty will be expert practitioners in the field from various parts of
India.

Room, board and tuition will be provided free of cost. However,
participants are expected to arrange for their own travel to the venue and
back. You are advised to arrive on 22 June. The rooms will be available from
2 pm onwards on 22 June and check out time is 12 noon on 25 June, so please
book accordingly.
