Peetham, where he proudly upholds and advocates for the following
positions:


Child Marriages: The Shankaracharya holds that all girls should be
mandatorily married 3 years before they attain puberty. That the girl
should worship her husband as Ishwara. He also rubbishes the claims
that childhood marriages result in severe risk to the child and the
mother. He claims that his hands are tied due to the anti-child
marriages act but he will persistently work until he sees a day where
mandatory child marriages will become the norm. According to UNICEF,
40% of all child marriages in the world happen in India -- perhaps
largely due to the teachings and advocacy for child marriages through
priests like Shankaracharya.

Sati: He not only endorses Sati -- the act by which a widow will
willingly jump into her husband's pyre and burn herself -- he also
says that it is more important for women to commit Sati today than it
was in the past -- because the practice is going into extinction.
