Bipin, there's also another problem that is not usually talked about
because of the complete focus on warming and its contestation by
sceptics. Which is ocean acidification. Because of the EXCESS
absorption of hundreds of tonnes of CO2 by the oceans since the
industrial revolution, the ocean waters have become more acidic. CO2
turns to, I think, carbonic acid, CaCO3. Anyhow, the generally
accepted figure is 30% more acidic than it used to be. It's pH value
has declined from 8.2 to 8.1. As you may well know, pH is calculated
on a logarithmic scale, hence such a seemingly small difference is
actually a lot.

The greater acidity is giving corals, and some marine species at the
bottom of the food chain a rather rough time. It's going to finish
many of them off actually; sooner or later, it will boomerang on us.
