Anupam, every political party has to manage the perceptions of its core
votes, be it left right or centre. left parties were not far behind in this
exercise when they had selectivly played fools with taslima issue. That
apart, it is not for me to defend a wrong, when it is wrong, it has to be
corrected in national life. sangh parivar has its share of deviants who seem
hell bent on Hinduthva, but true hinduthva is about tolerence and not
appeasement to any section of society. Congress over the six decades of its
rule has played the game of selective appeasement of sections of society, be
it opening the gates of locked premises of dilapidated structure of Ayodhya,
or be it about the amendment of Shah bano verdict.
main issue is hindu society is divided socviety though large in numerical
stength, the caste, sub caste, upper and lower caste equations have made
this society weakest and susceptible for appeasement of a caste for caste
vote banks.where as be it muslim or christian sections, though they are not
homogeneous, when it comes to survival, it is enmasse support of votes that
surfacesa, as seen now, large sections of the votes moving to BJP winning
candidates even if he is not hindu, supported by hindu and the other votes
of these sections, this is a fact in karnataka.
As to Ayodhya, again it must be recorded that it was a simple issue of title
to civil suit for the property ownership, played on by the political class
for the gains, over many deaths, judiciary playing foolish for the gains of
post retirement positions, keeping the ambers burning in the back burners.

rajen
