India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Bangalore is looking for a 
Director, Programmes. 
  
 
About IFA: 
IFA makes grants nationwide under various programmes: arts research and 
documentation, arts education, extending arts practice, new 
performance, curatorship and special grants. Please visit IFA’s website

Responsibilities of the Director, Programmes:  
The successful candidate will be the programme team’s chief strategist 
and be responsible for ensuring delivery on IFA’s programme strategies 
and objectives. S/he will supervise and appraise the work of the 
programme team. 
  
S/he will also be responsible for conceptualising and executing IFA's 
community engagement initiatives like publications, festivals, 
conferences and seminars in association with Programme Executives and 
the Marketing and Development team.  
 
Along with the Executive Director and Deputy Director, s/he will be 
responsible for developing IFA’s growth strategies and setting annual 
plans.  
 
The position will be based in Bangalore, and will entail considerable 
travel in India.   
 
The successful candidate will be appointed for five years on a 
contractual basis. The compensation package will be in the scale of Rs 
7 to 9 lakh annually.  
         
Eligibility for Director, Programmes: 
Applicants should be mature professionals with 10 or more years of 
experience of teaching, research, arts practice or managing programmes 
in the arts or humanities in India. They should be conversant with 
current issues and activities in the arts. They should demonstrate 
ideational ability, potential for leadership, a good sense of strategy, 
financial management skills, and be able to network and represent the 
organisation in different forums. They should be good writers, editors 
and public communicators. 
  
Deadline: 
The deadline for receipt of applications is July 19, 2010. Applicants 
should include a covering letter, a detailed resume, a statement of 
interest in this position, copies of articles/papers they have written 
and any other supporting documents. Short-listed candidates will be 
interviewed in Bangalore in August.
