[Reader-list] help on etymology

Dear all

Could anybody help me on the etymological history of the word azadi?
I know the "political" implications of the word, I am trying to trace  
back it's history, but unfortunately I speak neither Farsi nor Urdu or  
Hindi.

Any help will be greatly appreciated - and properly ackowledged in the  
book I am finishing (which is the reason why I need this bit of info)
