We are delighted to announce the first of its kind citizen media forum called “Pul-e-Jawan India” on Saturday, 14 April 2012 at India International Centre (Annexe), New Delhi. Pul-e-Jawan seeks to facilitate peace in South Asia by inviting Citizen Journalists (CJs) to Write, Publish and Speak about “Freedom of Expression, New Media & Tools and Bridging Cultures in Diversity & Conflict”.
CJs may send their requests for participation to cj at defindia.net, and if selected, their work would also be published at www.pulejawan.com to help showcase to global audience. Topics may relate to Gender, Identity, Environment, Resources, Economy, Travel, Culture and Heritage.
Selected CJs may present their multimedia stories at this conference which provides an opportunity to share their work with policy-makers, senior journalists, alternative media practitioners and representatives of cultural organizations promoting peace.
The agenda of the full-day event covers:

Freedom of Expression & Activism: How active citizens are using creative freedom to connect and promote causes
New Media & Technology: How the Internet medium with its tools and technologies is facilitating creation of Alternative Spaces
Citizen Media for Culture and Community: How citizens are using art and culture to rekindle communities and build bridges
Peace & Conflict Resolution: How citizens are expressing and asserting their role as stakeholders and becoming changemakers
