*The People's Film Festival (TPFF)* is currently accepting film
submissions.

The People's Film Festival will occur on May 3oth – June 1st, 2013 in New
York City. It is comprised of film screenings, panel discussions, and The
People's Awards, which celebrates the winners in each film category. The
festival will showcase the work of emerging, producers, videographers and
filmmakers reflecting both traditional and avant-garde style films on one
screen.

We're looking for narratives, features, shorts and documentaries films with
an emphasis on films that integrate multiple digital platforms using

continue that category.

*The Peoples Film Festival (TPFF)* is a showcase of extraordinary films
that use various different media formats to produce quality films.

*TPFF* celebrates the power of the media when placed in the hands of the
people. Whether it is a protest, or powerful clip shot in the most extreme
conditions, these stories matter to us. Our objective is to level the
playing field while giving the everyday videographer and independent
producer alike, the same opportunities to debut their work on the big
screen.

Our main focus is on content, the apparatus used, the technology and
delivery. We are looking for full-featured films, shorts, narratives, and
documentaries.

This event is open to the *people.*

*6th Ayodhya film festival 19-21Dec.2012*

Entries are invited and will be exhibited after selection by the Awam
Ka Cinema, the organizer of the festival.Activists and humanitarians
dedicated for the cause of the people are invited and cordially
expected to join in the festival.*

This year will mark 20 years of the tragic Babri Demolition, where
also hundreds of houses were burnt and atleast 16 persons were killed,
as per official records. The wounds and trauma of those events persists
among the people, even as communal forces are still working to provoke
mindless and inhuman destruction, as seen in the recent violence
during the festival of Dusshera.

The clash resulted in the loss of innocent lives and has yet again
challenged and questioned the values of peace and communal harmony.
The so-called welfare state has done nothing to restore peace and
provide a sense of security and protection to the victims. It has only
defended the tragedy as a "political conspiracy" against them.Instead
of healing the wounds, it has given new wounds to
them and to everyone. Today, the media is testimony to stories of
scams, abject poverty and beggary, crippling debt, depleting and
enslaved natural resources, and the development of a few at the cost
of many. And those who dare to fight these injustices and raise their
voice for the Rights, are either not too loud, are essentially ignored
or in some cases, silenced.Let's talk about Irom Sharmila’s 12
years of hunger strike. Let's talk about Dr. Sunilam, who had raised
the concern for farmers has been jailed. The tribal rights’activist
has also met the same fate. The officer who had fired upon the
farmers in Multai was promoted. Sadly, The Media, the “fourth pillar
of democracy” has also been distancing itself from people’s issues and
finding solace in the personal tribulations of celebrities. The
Cinema, with the potential to be the most impressive and effective
medium of people’s issue, has also taken a different road.

But as you know, *Awam Ka Cinema*, that had started its journey from
Ayodhya in 2006 with all such concernshas continued to stand with its
identity of being a non commercial and non capitalist cinema. This
year, it is going to organize the 6th Film Festival in Ayodhya. In the
past, it has organized such film festivals in many small and big
cities; from solitary environment of ravine of Chambal to snow covered
Kargil.

*Awam ka Cinema* shows the films that stand for its social importance,
that comes with a message. As the name suggests, it organizes the film
festival for the people (Awam), by the people and of the people. It
believes that organizing the peoples’ festival is the real meaning of
cinema and it is unlike the government-organized Gova film festival
and many other Film festivals that have also chosen a particular
class. *Awam ka Cinema* is
still travelling on its path through organizing the festivals by the
peoples’ contribution and support. It is somewhat like a cultural wave
that is flowing against capitalist cultural hegemony.
