'Subbody' means the subconscious body. Through calming down the daily consciousness and listening to the subtle signals and sensations of life; the participants will explore the originality, creativity and resonance abilities of their subconscious bodies. In the subconscious realm, life can explore infinite possibilities of movement, expression, dance and techniques that go beyond the human binds of dualism & judgement, self/others, in/out, mental/material, life/death, gender, culture, nationality, forms and so on. A new world is created that is completely different from the daily physical world.
ABOUT AKSHI KHANDELWALAkshi has been practicing butoh for the past one year, under the guidance of Rhizome Lee, a Japanese subbody butoh master. She has performed and conducted workshops at the Himalayan Butoh festivals and occasionally extended her practices onto the streets and other public places. Previously, she has been trained in bharatnatyam for 12 years and from time to time teaches beginners lessons in dharamsala. She also completed a diploma in movement arts and mixed media from Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts.
