Dear
All:

The
repercussions of Federalism crises in Pakistan have finally started coming out
everywhere in the country – nationalist movements in Balochistan and Sindh and
extremism in Punjab and KP-- marking a big challenge to the real managers of
the federation to review their last 65 years mode of governance. Unprecedented political
changes are taking place in Sindh. Around a million Sindhis, as estimated by
the media, gathered in Karachi yesterday March 23 under the banner of Freedom
March organized by JSQM – a Sindh based nationalist party and bid farewell to
Pakistan Resolution of March 23, 1940 that was adopted by All India Muslim
League for the creation of separate homeland for the Muslim majority province
of United India. The rally demanded Independence of Sindh.

The
contemporary social movements in Pakistan as well as around the
globe invite us to think about the inability of state as an organism particularly
in previously colonial third world to ensure the people’s securities as well as
adaptation of their will in the structures.
