I think it was more of dread than respect that these celebrities were there. 
Thakure was known to get things done. Sunil Dutt went to his darbar to 
request for Thakure's intervention when TADA was being imposed on him. For 
all we know, he did offer hims support.  Sanjay Dutt visited Thakure in the 
hospital.

Thakure held sway in a very limited part of India and therefore the girl's 
comment was not wrong. Even if he was the PM of India, his deadbody had no 
business to stop the daily wage earners to get to work.
