People’s panel seeks House resolution

The people’s committee spearheading the agitation against the
Kudankulam atomic power plant will take out a march to the Secretariat
on October 29 urging the Kerala Assembly to adopt a resolution terming
the project a safety hazard for the State.

A meeting of the committee here on Thursday decided to organise a
public meeting in front of the Martyrs’ Column here. Poet and activist
Sugathakumary presided over the meeting. Anti-nuclear activists will
lay siege to the Tamil Nadu Assembly complex on the same day.

Hailing the anti-Kudankulam stand adopted by Socialist Janata
(Democratic), Communist Party of India, Revolutionary Socialist Party
and Janata Dal (S), the committee urged them to move a resolution
against the project in the Assembly.
