Tara Books in collaboration with the British Council in India & Istituto
Italiano di Cultura, New Delhi are delighted to launch this little known
work from Charles Dickens, in the 200th year of his birth. Written in the
1840s when he took a respite from the writing of novels and travelled to
Europe it is both a travelogue and travel writing at its best.

Illustrated by Italian artist Livia Signorini, this edition is a
contemporary tribute to the great master, as well as to the idea of travel,
across time and continents. The launch will feature a display of original
art work, as well as speakers who explore the relationship between travel
and writing: how does this unfold in Dickens' text? What is this
relationship in other cultures of South Asia? What literary expressions has
travel called forth?
