Nokia launched the ‘Create to Inspire’ Fellowship with Oxfam India, on the International Youth Day, to engage youth on Sustainable Consumption. We believe that active participation of young people is essential to bring about bold social change in our society. Young people possess qualities of courage and creativity that can inspire their environment into action. However, few avenues exist which encourage the expression and experimentation of this creativity.
 
The Fellowship is an out-of-the-box challenge for youngsters to create ownership on judicious consumption and management of water, energy, transport and e-waste. The program provides a platform to use creative arts for building innovative social action projects that initiate fun and exciting conversations on sustainable consumption. Through music, dance, theatre, drama, film, photography, art & handicraft, design and technology the fellows can display their potential to redefine consumption of scarce resources.


To be a ‘create to inspire’ fellow, youngsters of age 18 to 23 from Delhi NCR and Hyderabad can submit their applications by 30thSeptember 2012. The shortlisted applicants would be invited for an interview and/or audition. The selected 300 fellows from both cities shall be trained by Mentors from creative fields. The mentors are young experts and entrepreneurs, working on sustainable development of their communities and are leading innovative projects and organizations. Following the training, the teams of fellows shall use their creative expressions on sustainable consumption of water, transport, e-waste and energy to engage their respective cities.

What is the age eligibility criterion?



The Create to Inspire Fellowship is open to young people between 18 – 23 years of age.

Can I apply for the fellowship if I am not in Delhi NCR or Hyderabad?



For the year 2012 – 2013 the fellowship is restricted to people living in Delhi NCR or Hyderabad.





3. 

How many hours do I need to give per week?



You will need to spend approximately 10 – 12 hours per week, sometimes more, over the course of the fellowship.

Do we work as an individual or as a group? If so, how many fellows will form a group?



You will be part of a six member team working towards creating a product that integrates your creative medium with sustainable consumption and takes it to the larger public in your city.





5.

Will I get any monetary assistance?



Yes, needs-based scholarships are available for basic logistical support such as public transportation.

What is the duration of the fellowship?



The Create to Inspire Fellowship will run for 10 months.
