MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival calls all Indian filmmakers to send in their short film entries to compete at this prestigious, one-of-a-kind, global film festival. This year, Festival Director Anil Sadarangani has collaborated with Mumbai-based Next Level Media Communications, a leading communications company, to bring MANHATTAN SHORT to India in the last week of September 2013.

Established in New York City in 1998, this is the fourth consecutive year that MANHATTAN SHORT comes to India. Interested filmmakers must send their films directly to New York. All the films in India languages, other than English must have subtitles. Deadline for entries is July 31, 2013. Entry fee is $35. Application form available at: http://www.manhattanshort.com/

“MANHATTAN SHORT shares a special relationship with India because winner of the 2004 festival, Ashvin Kumar’s Little Terrorist, went on to be nominated at the Oscars the following year,” says Nicholas Mason, Founding Festival Director from New York City. He adds, “We would love nothing more than to have a finalist from India in 2013!”

India’s first Oscar winner, Bhanu Athaiya, who has been a regular supporter of the MSFF since it came to India two years ago says, “In both the years I attended MANHATTAN SHORT, I saw a good selection of films from across the world, worthy of making their mark at platforms like the Oscars. The caliber of films was excellent.”

The MSFF takes place in over 250 cities across the world including Asia, North and South America, Europe, Australia and Africa during the week of September 27 to October 6, 2013. It is the first festival to take place in all 50 states across the USA.

Audiences across the globe come together to watch 10 finalist films selected from over 500 entries and vote the winner. This is any filmmaker’s chance to be a part of something extraordinary, one of the largest and most exciting cinematic events of the year. Past winners have been awarded with awards such as editing software worth thousands of dollars. MANHATTAN SHORT is a collection of the best short films currently in the world that have gone on to win nominations at the Oscars, BAFTA, Emmys, Cesars and win accolades at festivals such as the Cannes, Tribeca, Locarno, Berlin.
