“Today Contemporary issues such as Globalwarming, climate change are becomingpart of the education curriculum. There is a growing awareness among people toconserve environment with inclination towards using Green technologies. Green energy vs. Nuclearenergy is today the most engaging contemporary debate in India. In this crucialperiod, there is a need to move the debate further and we feel that art and culture is the best medium to reach alarge audience. Today when India and other developingcountries need energy to ensure that their citizens need agood standard of living and to address the energy needs , establishments are ambitious to go to any limit toachieve their goal . As down south, our fisherman brother and sisters have beenraising concerns and anxious about clean environment unfortunately instead of addressing theirconcerns, they are being labeled as anti-national andanti-development and pushed to dead end.We need to just stop and ponder. Shouldn’t we learn from experiences of thecommunities of the past to take new decision? asks National awardwinning documentary filmmakerShriprakash, Festival director of the India edition.

The festival unfolds a whole new world of similar experiences of the communities from all over the world and it shows the vested economic andpolitical interest which drives this whole nuclear industry. It also makesone understand all aspectsof nuclear fuel cycle.

“Independent information is the base for independent decisions. Thefestival stimulates the discussion about the nuclear question andstimulates the production of new documentaries, movies and animated filmsabout any nuclear or radioactive issue. In addition Uranium FilmFestival creates a neutral space to throw light on all nuclear issues.Societies and peoples have the right of choice if they want to follow thenuclear road or not” says Mr. Norbert , internationalfestival director , whose mind’s harvest was organization ofTravelling Uranium Film Festival across the globe in order to make people moreaware and cognizant.

Mr.Shriprakash says that almost all the required work hasbeen completed and they are relentlessly working for the pending tasks. He saidhe was hopeful and excited for the response of the people towards this festival.
