“*Research and Statistics Essentials*” is an intense 3-day program
primarily for researchers who are pursuing their Master's or Doctoral
degrees and professionals alike. The course is framed in a such way as to
guide both early career researchers and researchers submitting their
thesis. The first part of the programme deals with research essentials,
aims to enable participants with fundamentals of research and ways to go
about carrying out independent research. It will go through aspects of
defining the research; literature review; framing the objectives and
questions; hypothesis testing, overview of statistical methods and
analytical techniques; and conclude with writing and presentation skills.
The second part deals with statistics essentials, covering topics on nature
of data and data types (parametrics and non-parametric); descriptive
statistics (describing, exploring and comparing data, graphical
representation); distributions; *working with R software*, inferential
statistics; hypothesis testing (t-tests, F-test, etc.) and interpretation
of statistical output. The course will provide hands-on exposure to some of
the tools like Freemind and Mendeley for research essentials and R for
statistics essentials. Click here for more
