Police Escort Team Had Several Times Threatened Khalid Mujahid of Encounter

His counsel had informed the court in written about the threats

Lucknow, May 19: Several times in last six years of custody, police
team escorting Khalid Mujahid from jail to court had threatened him of
killing him in encounter, said Adv. Mohammad Shoaib, adding that court
was promptly informed in written with every such threat.

Talking to Muslim Mirror on way to Lucknow from Barabanki this
morning, Adv. Shoaib who has been fighting Khalid’s case since he was
arrested in November 2007 in court premises blast case of the same
year, said Khalid had told him on several occasions that police escort
team was threatening him of killing in encounter. Adv. Shoaib said he
had informed the court with every such threat whenever it happened.

Khalid Mujahid while returning from Faizabad court Saturday evening
died in police van. Police initially said he died of heart attack,
however, Barabanki jail superintendent said he was fine when
dispatched for appearance in Faizabad court. Adv. Shoaib who rushed to
Barabanki yesterday evening as soon as he got the news of his death
said postmortem has recorded various marks of injuries on the body of
Khalid. It was 3:15 pm when Adv. Shoaib met Khalid last time at the
Faizabad court. Around 5 pm he got the call that Khalid died of heart
attack.

Adv. Shoaib tol Muslim Mirror that his body had several marks of
torture. “The post-mortem shows several marks of torture and serious
injuries on the body of Khalid Mujahid. There deep swelling on his
face. Nails are dark. Signs of strangulation on neck are visible.
There are signs of bleeding from nose and mouth. There are injury
marks on thighs,” he said.

Following the post-mortem, Zaheer Alam Falahi, Mujahid’s uncle lodged
FIR in Barabanki in the wee hours at 3:30 am today. The FIR has named
some police officers of the time when Khalid Mujahid was arrested in
2007and the escorting police team of yesterday. In all the FIR has
made accused 42 people including Vikram Singh, who was DGP in 2007 and
Brij Lal, the ADG of that time.

Meanwhile, reports are coming that UP Govt. has ordered a CBI enquiry
into the death of Khalid Mujahid.

Mujahid’s arrest was found fake and illegal by the government
appointed RD Nimesh Commission and on the basis of that report and
under public demand, the state govt had decided to withdraw terror
case against Khalid Mujahid.
