Almost all towns and cities of Sindh have protested against digging the
grave of a Hindu Dalit, religious extremism, and victimizing Hindus. The
protests rallies, sit-ins, road-blocks and token hunger strikes were observed
in across the province by the political parties activists (mostly Sindhi
nationalists) and civil society organizations. Jeay Sindh Qomi Mahaz, Jeay
Sindh Mahaz (Khaliq and Riaz groups), Qomi Awami Party, Awami Jamshoori Party,
and others were prominent among the protesters according to Sindhi newspapers.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilwal Bhutto has said that there is
no-space for religious extremism and haltered in Sindh. He has also urged PPP’s
Sindh Government to take action against the culprits. He asked PPP activists to
be ready and come forward to discourage extremists in the province. Almost all
Sindhi nationalists have said in their statements, as well as speeches that the
culprits are state-supported elements. The Sindhi Hindu leadership of Hindu
majority districts of Umerkot and Mithi of the Thar Desert have also protested
and said that Hindu and Muslim live in harmony in Sindh, where both follow the
same saint Jhooley Lal on whose Samadhi a Hindu temple and a Mulsim mosque is
under one roof.
