About Sounds of Freedom:
Sounds of Freedom (SOF) is a movement that celebrates freedom of expression through music, art & poetry. We reach out to the young and bold, uniting them on a platform for dialogue and expression.
In its infancy, SOF received great responses from student communities in forms of original artwork, music compositions, lyrics, poetry, street plays, writings and photographs, which were centered on the theme of freedom of expression.
 
 
Highlights of SOF Year 1:

8 College bands from Delhi got a chance to showcase their original compositions on the festivals music album, which was  made available for free. To hear the vibes, listen here.

We assisted these young, fresh talents across our monthly music platform –Friends of Music through the year, as well as on radio.

 
About Vocal Rasta:
For its second edition, we created a brand new contest!
Vocal Rasta comprises of young adults who share our enthusiasm for the freedom of expression and liberty through music. This choir will consist of 40 members. They will receive an opportunity to open for the SOF Concert on the 14th of November 2014, where they will share the stage with some of the biggest names in music from India and abroad!
Based on the theme of Freedom of Expression, these 40 young adults collectively will re-arrange popular freedom songs as well as create original compositions.
 
What’s up for grabs:
1)      Once in a lifetime opportunity to share a stage with multiple Indian and International artists.
2)      Vocal Rasta will open the show on the day of the concert.
3)      They will get a chance to be trained by professional a cappela singers.
4)      We will provide an honorarium for the Vocal Rasta performance at the concert.
5)      We will reimburse participants for their travelling costs on the days of the practice sessions.
6)      The choir group will get an exclusive chance to meet all the artists backstage at SOF!
7)      An opportunity for the choir to professionally record their original composition, which will be available online for download on the festival website.
8)      Get a chance to perform at the Friends of Music monthly gigs
9)      A radio show with the official radio partners of the festival

Format:

Open Auditions will be held in the 3rd week of august.
Audition Format:
Round one: Open for all! Its better to sign up before you come
Come prepared with a song that flatters your voice and flaunts your skills
Round two: Selected participants will be asked to be part of a group round where the facilitators may engage in a few group excercises to see who fits best.
 
Before you audition, please see our small list of requirements:
1)      Participants need to be between the age of 18-25
2)      Participants need to be available on all weekends from August through December for practice sessions.
3)      Participants should have some kind of prior experience of singing in a choir.
4)      Participants will need to report for Practice at the given time and venue.
5)      You will need to commit a few hours on ALL weekends at least 2 months prior to the show.
 
Submission of entries:
All the people who are keen to be a part of the SOF choir are kindly requested to fill the form at the end of the page and report for auditions on 20th of August at 11 am.
