Workshop on “Synchronizing Employment and Education Opportunities for the
Differently abled, Especially the Visually Challenged” on 25th March 2014.
Time    : 9.30 am – 5.30 pm

In continuation with our innovation project objectives of bringing the
visually challenged students of the University of Delhi into mainstream life
and of sensitizing employers to hire them, we decided to provide an
opportunity for such students to interact with some employers from different
organizations, to know what is required for favorable employment chances and
feel motivated enough to train and hone their communication skills and
develop their personalities too.

Ms Stuti Kakkar, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment,
Government of India, has consented to be the Chief Guest for the workshop.
Professor Usha Rao (Coordinator, Equal Opportunity Cell, University of
Delhi), Dr Deepika Bhaskar (Dy Dean, Research, Academic Activities and
Projects, University of Delhi), and Ms Poonam Natrajan (Chairperson,
National Trust, Government of India, have consented to be the Guests of
Honour for the workshop.

Programme Schedule:

9.00 am        : Registration
9.30 am        : Inaugural and Welcome of guests
10.00 am        : Address by the Guests
10.30 – 10.45 am    : Keynote address - Dr. Jitendra Aggarwal, CEO, Saarthak
Education Trust; Also Mentor - Innovation Project
10.45 am – 11.45 am    : Session 1 – Address by Employers
Chair    : Dr Anil Aneja, OSD, Equal Opportunity Cell, University of Delhi
Leading employers like Axis Bank, ITC, IBM, Tech Mahindra etc. will share
some of their experiences of employing visually challenged persons and what
their expectations are from such employees.
11.45 am – 12.00 pm    : Tea break
12.00 -12.45 pm    : Session 2 – Experience sharing by visually challenged
employees who will talk about working conditions and their own requirements.
12.45 - 1.30pm    : Session 3 - Open platform for employers, employees and
visually challenged students. Moderated by Ms Swati Singh, Director,
Saarthak Education Trust

1.30 – 2 pm         : Lunch

2 – 3 pm     : Session 4 - Workshop on 'Communication Development' by Ms
Preeti Monga, Director, Silver Lining: Recipient of National Award for
working in the field of Disability

3 – 4 pm         : Session 5 - Workshop on 'Synchronising Skills and
Requirements' by Dr. Dipendra Manocha, President, National
Association for the Blind; Recipient of National Award for
working in the field of Disability

4 – 4.15 pm        : Tea Break

4.15 – 5 pm         : Valedictory Session – The Way Forward
Chair     : Dr Deepika Bhaskar (Dy Dean Research, Academic Activities and
Projects, University of   Delhi)
Student members will read their reports on the surveys conducted by them
5 - 5.30 pm     : Valedictory address and Award of certificates.
