We have been lucky to have been in touch with you in the last few years and
have you in Bihar with the JJSS. An inspiring initiative that the JJSS has
been involved with in the last couple of years is the pension parishad. As
part of the PP, the delhi groups are organising the Delhi Ration-Pension
yatra.

Since some of you are in Delhi maybe you could join the yatra to give
support and learn. An excerpt of a very inspiring account of the first day

Dear All, Zindabad!

This is just to inform and congratulate us all for the Delhi Ration-Pension
Parishad, 2014 *yatra* having taken off yesterday (Thursay, 27th of March)
and for it to have been a great success on its first day. We first went to
Sunlight Colony, Old Seemapuri in North East Delhi where, with Vimla ji and
her team's help, we met around 70 women from Sunlight Colony, Janta Mazdoor
Colony GRC and Mobile Creche. The women shared some of their problems
regarding ration and pension and the *local karyakartas have offered to
make a note of it, if they havent already, in the matrix to be made for
Planning Commission.* The play by Dr. Bobby's team was a huge success and
managed to send the message across effectively. They all took our
*parchas* home,
having decided to get electoral candidates in their areas to read and sign
on the ration-pension demand sheet if they hoped for any support from the
community. We also wrote our *yatra* slogans on the compund wall of the
Basti Vikas Kendra and managed to find two young boys as volunteers from
the community to accompany and help us in the *yatra* for the next seven
days.

On short notice, with the organisation - Humana's help, we also went to
Mansarovar Park near Shahdra, to a colony under threat of displacement and
demolitions. Some 200 people attended our meeting there and raised slogans
with us to: *'jhuggi nahi, ration, nahi, pension nahi, toh vote nahi'*. It
was a huge learning opportunity for a lot of us and we commit to engaging
more with this community and its issues from here on. Talking to the people
there helped us re-establish how closely all issues of life and livelihood
are linked and how our struggle for the right to social entitlements can
never be limited or isolated to any one cause, how the felt needs of a
community and organic voices of wisdom and leadership come first and
foremost in any kind of mobilizing.

Thank you all for your support or it would not have been possible. *Today
the yatra plans to go to two places: Night Shelter, Ashray Adhikar Abhiyan,
Fatehpuri (7 pm) and Sunil'ji's group at ISBT Kashmere Gate, Coolie Stand
at 9 pm. People coming to the Hauz Khas office, kindly reach latest by 5:30
pm and feel free to call and confirm with one of us if you need to be
picked up from a common mid-point along the route. Others can join us at
the venue directly.* A student theater group joins us today, looking
forward to lots of amazing experiences on Day 2 as well!
