*JOIN JOINT PROTEST DEMONSTRATION AGAINST POLICE REPRESSION ON STRIKING
WORKERS OF SRIRAM PISTON, BHIWADI*

*10 AM, 3RD MAY, 2014 *

*BIKANER HOUSE, (RAJASTHAN BHAWAN), PANDARA ROAD, NEW DELHI*
The state-labour department-capitalist nexus has once again bared its real
face by its brutal repression of the ongoing struggle of workers at Sriram
Piston, Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, demanding better wages, better working
conditions and their right to unionize. On the morning of 26th April, a
1000 strong police force including RAF and Cobra personnel and 200 goons
hired by the management entered the factory premises to evict the workers
occupying the factory. A brutal lathi charge ensued, with the police
throwing tear gas shells and firing 10 rounds of bullets on the unarmed
workers. 26 workers have been arrested on bailable and non-bailable charges
and still languish in jail while another 22 remain suspended. The attack
left 89 workers injured out of whom 3 received bullet injuries and another
was stabbed with a knife by a management hired goon.

The attack on Sriram Piston workers is part of a long trail of repressive
measures taken against the workers' movement in the
Gurgaon-Manesar-Dharuheda-Bawal industrial belt running along the proposed
Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Its clear that the capitalists and their
lackeys in the state and administration are not ready to concede to workers
even such basic rights as that of forming their own union today. The
brutality of the attack only signals the kind of repression that the near
future holds for the movement of the toiling masses in the country. It is
of utmost importance that we stand firm and strong with the struggling
workers against this attack! So do join and add the strength of your voice
to the struggle!!

We demand:

*Immediate release of all arrested workers!*

*Disciplinary action against officers responsible for the attack on 26th of
April!*

*Recognition of the union proposed by the workers!*

*Initiation of negotiations on the charter of demands presented by the
workers! *

*Immediate reinstatement of all suspended workers!*

*Enquiry against labour department bureaucrats illegally holding up the
registration of the Union! *
