Dear Friends and Comrades,

Kaladas Deheria is a *jan kalakar*, a peoples' artist and organizer of
workers movement being part of Mazdoor Karyakarta Committee, Chhattisgarh
Mukti Morcha, since the days when Shakar Guha Niyogi led mass workers
struggles in Chhatisgarh wiht the call of *Sangharsh aur Nirman*.

Kaladas has written over 1200 peoples' songs in Chhattisgarhi and Hindi
till date for the last almost three decades of being part of the movement.
He has also earlier published a booklet of songs which is a treasure of the
hopes, aspirations and pathos of the toiling masses and a call for complete
transformation.

At present, he along with his comrades, is trying to record some of the
songs in a Raipur studio so that these songs can be widely disseminated and
become part of the movemental culture in all places where struggles are
being waged. But this involves a cost of around Rs.80000, which is way
beyond their capacity, given the paucity of funds. They are clear on not
taking funding from institutional sources of any kind as has been the ethos
of any peoples' organisation.

So we appeal to all progressive individuals and left democratic progressive
organisations to support this initiative through contributions or any other
means to record and disseminate these songs as part of the peoples'
cultural resistance.
