We would like to bring to your attention that the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) is offering a three day course titled "Geographies of Desire: Understanding the Urban Through Film" from the 13th-15th March, 2015 at the IIHS Bangalore City Campus. The course is being taught by noted writer and filmmaker, Paromita Vohra.


Using a selections of films, photographs and other multimedia narratives, this course will explore how cities and people constantly re-shape each other, based not only on need, but also on desire. It will look at the world of desires as portrayed in film as a means of understanding the urban and how we arrange our lives in the city. Taking off from these insights about cinema / cinematic storytelling of desire and the urban, the participants will create multimedia narratives of their own with stills, tiny video clips, basic graphics and text using mobile phones and computers.
