Climate is changing. Planet is warming up. There is a scientific consensus
on Global Warming.

Is our political leadership ready to sign a scientific deal to mitigate
climate change? Answer is not very clear.

Apparently according to scientific community if stronger actions are not
taken to mitigate climate change in these years, the whole mankind's future
is threatened.

There is growing hope that meeting of country representatives later this
year in Paris- France may bring out a new international environmental
governance regime which will be supportive of stronger actions to mitigate
climate change and adapting to its deadly affects.
In past similar hope was given for Copenhagen talks. But it came out to be
a watershed. Pessimism prevailed.

Are negotiations in Paris later this year will hit a similar deadlock like
Copenhagen? Why will there be a deadlock? Who are the key players in the
negotiations and climate policy?* Questions like these will be answered by

About Amir Bazaz: Amir works on issues at the intersection of economics,
climate change mitigation and sustainable development. He has substantial
experience of working with various top-down & bottom-up economy-
energy-environment modeling frameworks/architectures. His current research
interests are low carbon societies/infrastructure, climate change
adaptation, urban-climate change linkages.

Amir started his career in the manufacturing industry, working across
functional responsibilities of projects, production planning/control and
engineering. He had been the Expert Consultant to the Ministry of
Environment & Forests, Government of India for the National Communication
to the UNFCCC project. He has taught courses in Development & Environmental
Economics during his academic engagements. He is currently working at
Indian Institute for Human Settlements.

Climate सत्संग is a series jointly organized by Indian Youth Climate
Network (IYCN) and Paradigm Shift in Bangalore to raise awareness about
environment conservation and sustainability issues and is going on past 8
months.
