The Indian Youth Climate Network: North-East Region
<https://www.facebook.com/iycnner> is hosting a workshop in Shillong with
support from the German Embassy in New Delhi. A recent climate change
survey in India conducted by IYCN shows that 97% of Indian youth (sample
size of 400) are really concerned about climate change but a majority of
them are not aware of the solutions and/or its direct impacts on them. This
goes to show that there still is a large gap between awareness and action
that needs to be bridged urgently. To address the gap workshop is being

Design of the workshop
The workshop will thematically focus on security relating to climate change
mitigation and adaptation in the northeast region and will target two main
objectives: sensitization and finding solutions.
Workshop shall be divided into 2 modules spread over 2 days:
*‘Awareness Day’*: climate change background/ scenarios, elaboration of
case studies in different regions, show linkage between local problems and
global climate change/ environmental pollution, present persons (Agents of
Change) and their innovative solutions (mitigation/ adaptation), show
movies developed during the previous projects by IYCN and its associates,
group discussions;

‘*Action Day’: *Look at case studies and interact with youths and experts
working on providing solutions to the climate crisis in the region. Address
questions like how to mobilise people and resources to do work, form ‘How
To’ action groups, feedback round and discussion of next steps, invitation
to participate in the AoC-movement.
