Dear Friends of The Arshinagar Project,

This is the first of two messages you will receive from us today.

We are very happy to share with you that Anna Olkinuora (Associate Artist,
The Arshinagar Project) and Arka Mukhopadhyay (Founder, The Arshinagar
Project) will be leading our new performance project "Medea's Song" in
Bangalore this month.

We are reaching out to all our past and present friends and supporters, to
help us bring this project to life

Medea's Song will be a unique event in the cultural landscape of Bangalore,
taking place in the historic setting of the RBANMS High School, as part of
the RBANMS Kala Ranga Artist-in-Residence Programme

*About the Project:*
*"Medea's Song"* is envisioned as a piece of cutting-edge contemporary,
multilingual physical theatre, to be developed with a professional cast of
actors, dancers, movers and musicians, through an intensive laboratory
process, investigating the role of breath, rhythmicity and musicality in
the craft of the performer, while at the same time entering into dialogue
with the natural and architectural energies of the RBANMS space. Through
this process we will confront *Medea, *one of the strangest and most
magnificent stories ever told, that continues to raise fundamental
questions about identity and violence, 2500 years after it was put to
dramatic form by Euripides

The performance will happen in English, Kannada and other languages
and will be presented to the public over five or six shows at the end of
May and early June, and will subsequently tour other spaces.

*About RBANMS Kala Ranga:*
Kala Ranga is an artist in residence program at the RBANMS schools,
Bangalore; utilizing the heritage spaces to showcase the work of

*We Need Your Support:*

Though the RBANMS trust is generously supporting the project with space and
logistics, it yet leaves us in need of financial support. We need support
for the following:

1. Travel for 1 person from Kolkata to Bangalore and back:  INR 15,000/-
2. Accommodation and living costs for 1 person INR 15,000/-
3. Cost of creating the environment, properties and costume INR 20,000/-
4. Cost of publicizing the shows (posters, flexes, etc.) INR 10,000/-
5. Token fees for directors, cast and crew (15 people approx. at INR
6,000/- each) = INR 90,000/-

This comes up to a total of INR 1,50,000/-.

This is where we must turn to you for support, as we have in the past.
Though some of these costs will be met through the ticket collections, we
cannot entirely hope to depend on that, and must have some reserves to work
with. Our cast and technical collaborators have also agreed to join without
any guaranteed fee, but we'd like to offer them at least a token
remuneration.
We appeal to you to contribute any amount you wish, and help us make this
project a reality.

You can give whatever you wish, but we recommend contributions or INR
200/-, INR 500/-, INR 1,000/-, INR 1,500/-, INR 2,000/- or above.

You can donate by electronic transfer to our account, or you can also
directly donate to the RBANMS Trust in the name of "RBANMS Educational
Charities" by way of a cheque or demand draft. For contributions above INR
5,000/-, 80G tax exemptions are available.

We also have an array of rewards options to acknowledge your support,
including free passes to the shows, free Yoga and Kalari lessons with the
work-leaders and more.
