Karnataka labour welfare department begins enrollment for Rashtriya
Swasthya Beema Yojna -RSBY (National Health Insurance Scheme). 1071
wastepickers in Bangalore have been listed for the scheme. The enrollment
is being facilitated by local membership based organizations of informal
economy workers (un-organized sector) including Hasiru Dala. In the current
enrollment drive- Hasiru Dala plans to facilitate inclusion of more than
5000 wastepickers who have occupational identity cards provided by Bruhat
Bangalore Mahanagar Pallike (Greater Bangalore Municipal Corporation).



*What is Rashtriya Swasthya Beema Yojna?*


Rashtriya Swasthya Beema Yojana (RSBY) is a Union Government Scheme
launched on 1st April, 2008 by the Ministry of Labour and Employment,
Government of India. In its intention to reach the lacunas in the health
insurance schemes, RSBY is envisaged with a well-designed concept to avoid
all health shocks- threat to life and livelihood of informal economy
