*B.N. Ganguli Memorial Lectures* are instituted in memory of the
distinguished economist Professor B.N. Ganguli, former Chair, CSDS Board of
Governors. Earlier speakers in the series include Professors Charles
Taylor, Rodolfo Stavenhagen, Raimundo Panikkar, Bhikhu Parekh, Ernest
Gellner, Ali Mazrui, Roberto Unger, Michael Walzer, John Keane, Amit
Bhaduri, Giorgio Agamben, Bina Agarwal, José Casanova, Partha Chatterjee,
Boaventura de Sousa Santos, Dipesh Chakrabarty and Claudio Lomnitz.



*Jomo Kwame Sundaram* was Coordinator for Economic and Social Development,
Food and Agriculture Organization, during 2012-15. He was Assistant
Secretary General for Economic Development in the UN Department of Economic
and Social Affairs during 2005-12, and Research Coordinator for the G24
Intergovernmental Group on International Monetary Affairs and Development
during 2006-12.



He was Professor at the University of Malaya until 2004 and Founder Chair
of International Development Economics Associates. He has authored and
edited over a hundred books, many academic papers and media articles. He
has received several awards including the 2007 Wassily Leontief Prize for
Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought.



*Aditya Nigam *is Professor at the Centre for the Study of Developing
Societies.
