This lecture will focus on post-materialist science and integral ecology
based on the speaker’s personal experience as an academic anthropologist
and the new post-materialist scientific paradigm on cosmogenetic principle
mostly through the work of cosmologist Brian Swimme, Thomas Berry and Mary
Evelyn Tucker. Integral ecology not only integrates the human and non-human
world but also the material and the immaterial and rests on a rejection of
the consumerist society and the current economic institutions among others.
It will also cover the experiments carried out by the speaker in the
Peruvian Upper Amazon.

*Frédérique Apffel-Marglin* is a professor emerita of Anthropology at Smith

coastal Odisha. Her research interests include ritual, gender, political
ecology, critiques of development, science studies, Andean-Amazonian

latest book *Sacred Soil: Biochar and the Regeneration of the Earth*
(co-authored with Robert Tindall and David Shearer).
