The Society for Visual Culture (SVC) of AUD in collaboration with Cinetic (a venture which provides commercial screening of independent and critically acclaimed films in colleges and halls across India) proudly presents to everyone an extremely interactive and moonbeaming talk with Mr. KRANTI KANADE, a multiple National Award winning Indian director whose films have gained accolades across the globe.




Being a talented film maker, having graduated from FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) and UCLA (University of California), his films include Chaitra, Mahek and CRD.




The run through of this workshop is going to commence by the screening of CHAITRA one of his short films followed by an interactive discussion about his method of film making and actor-director relations. In accordance to this, we attempt to discuss the future of the cinema world in regard to the betterment of film quality and poking through the bubble of majestic nature of Bollywood, that is, via directing the youth, us, with the real connection to independent cinema.


The very aim of such an interaction is to create an alternate cinema, break the barrier that currently exists for independent films. It is to build a platform where people can watch good films, interact with directors and form a helpful community.


A hopeful purpose here is to reach out to the bright minds of India, engage students and directors in debates where each can question the other's existing ideas and beliefs to create an environment where quality films can thrive, and hopefully give voice to a cinema that often gets sidelined by the commercial stronghold of Bollywood.
