[Reader-list] Brouhaha Over the Veil

It is really interesting that a debate on muslim women's veil has been initiated a by a visibly lame lass of Hindutva who appear with her head covered with saree(very traditional and for the likings of Hindutva ideologues, no wonder she received cross votes!!)
  the whole debate is an attempt to construct the 'other' --Muslim -- as problematic, whereas the big problems within the nationalist/HIndutva never debated... 
  problems of muslim women are used to create a steroetypical image of muslim
  this doesnt mean that problems does not exists in Islam
  but the kind of support such debates get and how this has been utilised to define nationalism is a thing to worry abt.
  the issue of DAlit women never gets this much fanfare from the "balcony-walli" feminists/activists to "K serial" lady politicians
  first drop the saree from one's head and debate on veil
