Reports also said that an abandoned container has also been found in the
area. Police and bomb disposal squad have been rushed to the spot and are
conducting searches. Fire engines are also at the site.

The market has been closed and the blast site cordoned off. Reports said
that the blast occurred at around 2:15 pm.

The national capital has been put on high alert following the blast.

The blast shook doors and windows of the houses and shops in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, two young persons came on a motorcycle and left
behind a tiffin box packed in a black polythene packet. The youths, wearing
T-shirts and denim, left the place after dropping the packet, they said,
adding a child picked up the packet and suddenly it exploded.

"I was standing some 100 metres from the site. I saw the child picking up
the packet and suddenly there was a big sound and smoke," an eyewitness
claimed.

He said the motor-cyclists managed to flee from the scene as there was
commotion in the area soon after the explosion.

The injured have been rushed to AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital. Eyewitnesses
are confirming that the dead include at least two children.

The Faridabad police claimed today that they had received information
regarding a possible blast in the national capital, but the Delhi Police are
denying receiving any such tip-off.

The blast took place exactly two weeks after five serial blasts rocked the
city, killing 24 people and injuring over 100.

The mastermind of that terror attack was gunned down in an encounter with
police few days after the blasts, while several others involved in the plot
have been arrested.
