(a) whether the Government propose to issue Photo Identity Cards to
all the foreign nationals residing in India;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which these cards are likely to be issued to them?
ANSWER

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS ( CH. VIDYASAGAR RAO )

(a)to(c): A proposal for compulsory registration of all citizens and
non-citizens residing in India and for issue of Multipurpose National
Identity Cards to the citizens has been under consideration of the
Government. A feasibility study has also been conducted by a
professional consultancy firm in this regard. No final decision has
been taken in the matter so far.
