The stand point of the Left is to protect minority rights as there is
systematic discrimination against them in the society.
Simply following the book, blindly at the administrative levels would
end up alienating all of them.
This university was created as part of a plan to uplift the relatively
low quality Madrasah education system.

There are no dress regulations on anybody in the university.
It is a particular student union's demand...
The demand is unconstitutional does not mean that the students should
be thrashed up by the police and made to sit in the classroom against
their wishes.

It is actually for the university authorities to decide on how to
handle the students, else it should become a legal matter. Why should
the Government interfere in the affairs of the university? The act
under which the university was created does not give it that kind of
powers. The write up referred by the OP is yet another example of bad
biased journalism.

This demand may also be due to the politics of the TMC.

The students union is apparently made up of a bunch of brainless
idiots ... it is difficult to believe the level
