Synopsis :
One of the most fervent and passionate revolutionaries of the Indian
independence movement, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his contribution
to India's independence has been forgotten. Bose: The Forgotten Hero
follows the last five years of this man charged up with the idea of
seeing an independent India, from his resignation as the president of
the Indian National Congress in India to his journey to Italy, Germany
and Japan where he brought together Indian POWs, to finally battling
the Britishers in Burma to free India. “Give me blood and I will give
you freedom,” roared Subhas Chandra Bose who not only inspired
generations of revolutionaries, but united the world to the cause of
Indian independence.

Shyam Benegal
One of India’s most renowned filmmaker and sustainer of the parallel or
middle cinema movement of the 1970s, Shyam Benegal made his first
amateur film at the young age of 12. In college he was involved with
student’s theatre and also founded the Hyderabad Film Society. Moving
to Bombay he worked in advertising making over 900 ads and 11 corporate
films. In 1973 he made his first film Ankur in a quasi-realist style
considered antagonistic to commercial cinema of the day. The commercial
and critical success of the film propelled his cinematic career that
has seen him make some of India’s best films including Nishant,
Manthan, Bhumika, Mandi, Mammo, Sardari Begum, Zubeida etc. and the
landmark TV series Bharat Ek Khoj. He launched the careers of some of
the greatest actors of Indian cinema including Shabana Azmi, Anant Nag,
Om Puri and Nasseruddin Shah. He has won many global and national
awards including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Indian cinema’s
highest award for lifetime achievement - the Dadasaheb Phalke Award,
while his films have won the national film award for the Best Feature
Film in Hindi a record seven times. Shyam Benegal continues to make
film and today has an influential presence in many film policy
organizations of national importance.
